Ratibi Card Balance Check 2026: Salary Check Online, ATM & SMS

Ratibi Card Balance Check

Payday comes, and you want to know one thing. Did the salary arrive? If you work in Dubai, Abu Dhabi or Sharjah and your wages land on a Ratibi card, a Ratibi card balance check answers that in under a minute. You don’t need a bank account. You don’t even need a smartphone. But there’s one detail that stops thousands of workers cold, and almost nobody explains it properly: the online portal asks for a 13-digit Card ID, not just your card number. Get that wrong, and the page keeps rejecting you. Let’s start there.

How to Check Your Ratibi Card Balance

Go to ppc.magnati.com/ppc-inquiry in any browser, enter the last four digits of your card, your 13-digit Card ID, and the CAPTCHA code, then click Go. No login or registration is needed, and it’s free. If you have no internet, insert your card at any FAB ATM and choose Balance Inquiry, or send BAL and your last four digits by SMS to 2121 from your registered mobile number. For card problems, call the Ratibi helpline on 600 52 2298, open 24 hours.

What Is the Ratibi Card?

The Ratibi card is a prepaid salary card from First Abu Dhabi Bank. Your employer loads your wages onto it every month through the UAE Wage Protection System, known as WPS. You never open a bank account, sign forms, or keep a minimum balance.

It’s built for workers earning around AED 5,000 a month or less. That covers a huge part of the workforce in construction, cleaning, security, delivery, hospitality and domestic work, and it’s especially common in Dubai, where much of that labour is concentrated. You can withdraw cash at ATMs, pay in shops, buy online, and send money home. The card runs on the Visa or Mastercard network, so it also works outside the UAE.

One thing to understand early. The Ratibi card is a prepaid card, not a bank account. That single fact explains why some FAB services work with it, and others don’t, which we’ll come back to. If you want to see how it compares with other wage cards in the country, our overview of Prepaid and Payroll Cards in the UAE lays them out side by side.

What You Need Before You Check Your Balance

Most failed balance checks happen because people don’t have the right details in front of them. Two minutes of preparation saves a lot of frustration. Here’s exactly what the online portal asks for, and where each piece lives.

The Last Four Digits of Your Card

Look at the front of your card. There’s a 16-digit number printed across it. You only need the final four digits. If your card ends in 3456, you enter 3456 and nothing else. Simple enough, and this is the part people usually get right.

Your 13-Digit Card ID

This is the one that catches everyone. The Card ID is a separate 13-digit number, and it is not the same as your card number. You’ll find it on the paper carrier that came inside the envelope your employer handed you. On some cards it’s also printed small in the bottom-left corner.

In my experience, this is the single biggest reason the portal shows an error. People type the last four digits of the card into both boxes, or they use the 16-digit number where the 13-digit Card ID belongs. Two different numbers, two different fields. Check each one separately before you press Go.

The Captcha Code

When the portal loads, it shows a short code as a picture. Type it exactly as you see it, including capital letters. You’ll need to do this every time you check, and the code changes each visit. If the picture is blurry or hard to read, refresh the page and a new one appears.

No Card ID? Use an ATM Instead

Lost the paper carrier, or never received it? You’re not stuck. The ATM method needs only your card and your PIN, no Card ID at all. Take your card to any FAB machine, and you’ll have your balance in seconds. To get the Card ID back for online use, visit a FAB branch with your Emirates ID and ask staff to look it up.

Ratibi Card Balance Check Online (Magnati Portal)

The official online route runs through Magnati, a payments company owned by FAB. This is the method I’d recommend to most people with internet access, for one clear reason: there’s no app to install, no account to create, and no password to forget. It works in any browser, on any phone or computer, at any hour.

Step by Step on the Portal

  1. Open a browser and go to ppc.magnati.com/ppc-inquiry.
  2. In the first field, type the last four digits of your 16-digit card number.
  3. In the second field, type your 13-digit Card ID.
  4. Type the captcha code shown on screen.
  5. Click Go.
  6. Your available balance appears, along with your recent transactions.

Take a cleaner working in Dubai’s Al Quoz who gets paid on the 27th. She opens the portal on her phone during a break, sees the salary has landed, and knows she can send money home that evening. No queue, no branch, no cost. That’s the whole appeal of this method.

If the Portal Is Slow on Payday

Between roughly the 25th and the 28th of every month, thousands of workers hit this portal at once. It can crawl or time out. Don’t assume your card is broken.

Wait ten or fifteen minutes and try again. Better still, use a FAB ATM instead, since ATM checks don’t depend on that website at all. This is genuinely the most common complaint about the portal, and it’s almost always traffic rather than a fault with your card.

Other Ways to Do a Ratibi Card Salary Check

The portal suits most people, but not everyone. Maybe you have no data. Maybe you’d rather use an app, or speak to a person. Five other methods cover every situation, and each one is free or nearly free. Pick whichever fits your phone and your day.

The Payit App

Payit is FAB’s own digital wallet, and it’s the best choice if you check your balance often. Once your card is linked, your balance shows the moment you open the app. It also lets you send money to more than 200 countries and pay bills, which saves trips to an exchange centre.

  1. Download Payit from Google Play or the App Store.
  2. Tap Sign Up and choose the Ratibi cardholder option.
  3. Scan your Emirates ID with your phone camera and fill in your details.
  4. Record the short security video the app asks for.
  5. Enter your 13-digit Card ID when prompted.
  6. Type the OTP sent to your registered mobile number.
  7. Create a 4-digit Payit PIN, and your balance appears.

Setup takes ten minutes or so, but you only do it once. App screens change with updates, so follow what’s on your screen if a step looks slightly different. Payit has its own support line on 600 54 3329.

At a FAB ATM

This is the most reliable method of all, because nothing can go wrong with your internet or your password. There are over 290 FAB ATMs around the country, and balance checks at FAB machines are always free.

  1. Find a FAB ATM near you.
  2. Insert your Ratibi card and choose English or Arabic.
  3. Enter your 4-digit PIN, keeping the keypad covered with your hand.
  4. Select Balance Inquiry.
  5. Your balance appears, and you can print a mini-statement.

Stick to FAB machines where you can, and in Dubai they’re rarely far. A security guard in Deira who uses a non-FAB ATM three times a month pays AED 6.30 in fees for nothing, since the same check is free a short walk away. Our guide to ATM Balance Check in the UAE covers how machine fees work across the different banks.

By SMS to 2121

No internet and no smartphone? SMS works on the most basic handset. Type BAL, then a space, then the last four digits, and send it to 2121. For example: BAL 3456. Your balance comes back within seconds.

Two conditions matter here. The text must come from the mobile number registered with FAB, so a friend’s phone won’t work. And your telecom provider charges for the message, usually somewhere between AED 0.30 and AED 1.00, though FAB itself charges nothing for the check. If you send it correctly and get no reply at all, your number probably isn’t registered. Call 600 52 2298, and they’ll sort it.

Worth knowing: Ratibi also sends you a free SMS alert the moment your employer loads your salary. Many workers never need to check manually because that message arrives on its own.

By Phone on the Ratibi Helpline

Ratibi has its own dedicated helpline, separate from FAB’s general line, and it runs 24 hours a day. Call 600 52 2298 inside the UAE, or +971 2 499 6279 from abroad. Have your card, your Emirates ID and your registered mobile with you.

Honestly, this is the number to save in your phone right now. A blocked card, a missing salary, a card you can’t find- one call to that number usually settles it. FAB’s general customer care on 600 52 5500 also exists, but the Ratibi line knows this card better.

A Note on the FAB Mobile App

Here’s where a lot of guides send people wrong. FAB Mobile is built for customers with full FAB bank accounts, meaning current accounts, savings accounts and credit cards. For a Ratibi prepaid card, it often shows limited information, or your card simply doesn’t appear at all.

So if you’ve downloaded FAB Mobile and can’t find your Ratibi card in it, nothing is broken. Use the Magnati portal or Payit instead. If you do hold a full FAB account alongside your card, our FAB Balance Check guide covers those methods properly.

Which Ratibi Balance Check Method Should You Use?

All six methods show the same balance. What changes is speed, cost, and what you need in your hand. This table should make the choice quick.

Ratibi Card Fees, Limits and Free Benefits

The Ratibi card is close to free to run, which is the point of it. There are no monthly charges and no minimum balance. The costs that do exist come almost entirely from using the wrong ATM, and they’re easy to avoid once you know them.

Declined transactionAbout AED 1.50Charged per failed attempt
Monthly card feeFreeNo maintenance charges

Fees can change, so treat these as the current picture rather than fixed figures, and confirm anything important with FAB. The declined-transaction charge is the one that quietly hurts. Try to pay AED 200 when you have AED 180, and you lose another AED 1.50 for the privilege, which is why a quick balance check before a big payment pays for itself.

Free Insurance Included With Your Card

Most Ratibi holders have no idea this exists. Every card comes with basic accident cover at no cost, automatically, from the day it’s issued. It’s not a substitute for real health insurance, but it’s genuinely worth knowing about.

  • Accidental death or permanent disability: five times your monthly salary or AED 25,000, whichever is lower.
  • Hospital stay after an accident: around AED 50 a day for up to 30 days, capped at around AED 1,500, and you generally need to be admitted for at least 24 hours.
  • Repatriation of remains: actual costs up to roughly AED 5,000 to return a body to the home country.

Cover amounts and conditions can be updated by the bank, so check FAB’s official Ratibi page for the current terms before relying on any figure. If something happens, tell your family this cover exists, because a claim nobody knows about never gets made.

Money on Demand Salary Advance

Through the Payit app, some Ratibi holders can access part of their salary before payday, commonly up to half of it. It’s designed for emergencies, a medical bill, or an urgent transfer home. Useful in a tight month, but treat it carefully. Money taken early is money missing later, and availability depends on your card and employer setup.

Salary Not Credited? What to Do

This is the most stressful moment for any salary card holder, so work through it in order rather than panicking.

First, check the date. Most UAE employers pay somewhere between the 25th and the last day of the month. Payroll only reaches your card after your employer submits it through WPS, and that processing can take a day or two. A balance showing zero on the morning of the 26th often fills by the 27th.

Second, go to your HR or payroll department. This surprises people, but the instruction comes from your employer, not from the bank. FAB cannot create a payment your company hasn’t sent. Ask HR to confirm the salary was submitted, and ask for the WPS reference number if they have it.

Third, if HR confirms it was sent and your card is still empty after a working day, call the Ratibi helpline on 600 52 2298 with that reference. They can trace it.

Fourth, if your employer simply hasn’t paid, you have a right to act. The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation handles wage complaints on 800 60. Filing is free, your wages are protected under UAE labour law, and WPS exists precisely so unpaid salaries can be traced and pursued. Plenty of workers hesitate here. You shouldn’t have to work unpaid.

Common Ratibi Card Problems and Fixes

Nearly every Ratibi problem has a short fix, and most don’t need a branch visit. Here are the ones that come up again and again.

Card Blocked or PIN Forgotten

Enter the wrong PIN too many times at an ATM, and the card blocks itself. That’s a safety feature, not a fault. Stop trying other machines, because it stays blocked until someone unblocks it. Call 600 52 2298 with your Emirates ID ready. You can also set a new PIN at any FAB ATM through the PIN services menu.

Invalid Card Details on the Portal

Nine times out of ten, this is the Card ID again. Confirm you’ve entered the last four digits of the 16-digit card number in one field, and the full 13-digit Card ID in the other. Then check the CAPTCHA, since capital letters matter. If it still fails, use an ATM rather than trying the portal repeatedly.

Lost Your Card ID

Take your card and Emirates ID to any FAB branch and ask staff to retrieve it. Until then, the ATM and SMS methods both work without it, so you’re never locked out of your own balance.

Expired Card, or Changing Jobs

Two situations that catch workers by surprise. Ratibi cards usually run three to five years, with the expiry printed on the front as month and year. Salary will not credit to an expired card, and your employer has to request the replacement, so check that date today and speak to HR if it’s close.

Changing jobs matters too. The card is tied to the employer who issued it. Your new company issues a new card, and no fresh salary lands on the old one, although you can still spend whatever balance remains on it.

One more distinction worth learning. Your available balance is what you can actually spend right now. A current balance figure may include transactions that haven’t settled yet, so the two can differ for a day. Always spend against the available number.

How to Activate a New Ratibi Card

A new card needs activating before it works, and your employer is responsible for starting that process. If you’ve been handed a card and it won’t work anywhere, speak to HR first.

Once it’s issued, you can activate and set your PIN in two ways. With a smartphone, linking the card in the Payit app activates it as part of the setup. Without one, take the card to any FAB ATM, insert it, choose the PIN or card services menu, select Set PIN, and follow the screen to create your own 4-digit code. That’s it. The card is then ready for ATMs, shops and online payments.

Choose a PIN nobody could guess from your documents. Not your birth year, not the last digits of your Emirates ID.

Stay Safe: Avoid Ratibi Card Scams

Salary card holders get targeted constantly, and scammers know these cards hold someone’s entire month of income. So be careful with any message you didn’t expect.

FAB will never ask for your PIN by SMS, WhatsApp or phone call. There’s no WhatsApp balance-check service, whatever a message claims. Nobody legitimate needs your Card ID, your OTP, or your CVV to “release” your salary, and any message saying your wages are held until you verify something is a scam.

Use only the official channels: the Magnati portal at ppc.magnati.com, the Payit app, a FAB ATM, SMS to 2121, the helpline, or FAB’s official Ratibi page. Type addresses yourself rather than tapping links. And if you spot a transaction you didn’t make, call 600 52 2298 straight away, since FAB can block the card in minutes.

Frequently Asked Questions

How can I check my Ratibi card balance online?

Go to ppc.magnati.com/ppc-inquiry and enter the last four digits of your card, your 13-digit Card ID, and the captcha code. Your balance and recent transactions appear instantly. No login, registration or fee is involved.

Where do I find my 13-digit Card ID?

It’s printed on the paper carrier inside the envelope your employer gave you with the card, and sometimes in the bottom-left corner of the card itself. If you’ve lost it, any FAB branch can look it up with your Emirates ID. Meanwhile, ATM and SMS checks work without it.

What is the Ratibi balance check number?

Text BAL and your last four digits to 2121 for an SMS balance, and call 600 52 2298 for the dedicated Ratibi helpline, which runs 24 hours. From outside the UAE, use +971 2 499 6279. FAB’s general line is 600 52 5500.

Can I check my Ratibi balance without internet?

Yes. A FAB ATM needs only your card and PIN, and an SMS to 2121 works on any basic phone. You can also call the helpline or visit a branch. None of these needs data, which is why so many workers rely on them.

Why is my Ratibi salary not showing?

It’s usually a WPS processing delay, since the money appears only after your employer submits payroll, which can take a working day. Speak to HR first to confirm it was sent, then call 600 52 2298, and contact MOHRE on 800 60 if wages genuinely haven’t been paid.

Is the Ratibi card free to use?

There are no monthly fees, no minimum balance, and balance checks at FAB ATMs and on the Magnati portal cost nothing. You’ll pay around AED 2.10 at a non-FAB ATM in the UAE, more abroad, and about AED 1.50 for a declined transaction.

Is the NBAD Ratibi card the same as the FAB Ratibi card?

Yes, they’re the same card under different branding. NBAD merged with First Gulf Bank in 2017 to create FAB, and every portal, helpline and method in this guide works identically. An older card showing the NBAD logo remains valid.

The Bottom Line

Your Ratibi balance is never more than a minute away once you know the route. The Magnati portal is the fastest online, and the only thing standing between most people and a working check is that 13-digit Card ID sitting on a paper carrier they’ve forgotten about. Find it and keep it somewhere safe. If you have no internet, a FAB ATM or an SMS to 2121 does the same job for free or near enough.

Save 600 52 2298 in your phone today. Check the expiry date on the front of your card while you’re thinking about it. And never share your PIN or OTP with anyone, whoever they claim to be. Your salary is yours, and this card is simply how you access it.
